Rob is a privacy paralegal at Weisman Tech Law. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for the United States (CIPP/US) and Europe (CIPP/E), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), and Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).   Rob regularly assists the firm’s clients with US and international privacy matters, including Privacy Notices, Data Protection Addendums (DPAs), and overall privacy compliance.  

 

Rob’s career spans over three decades in international information and data businesses. Rob was Vice President and Data Privacy Officer at Thomson Financial, a multibillion-dollar financial information company, where he was responsible for creating and maintaining pragmatic compliance programs for diverse businesses and global operations, including in the US, EU, and Japan, and for supporting the Legal team in all privacy matters. In addition, Rob assisted the privacy practices of legal and consulting firms, as well as clients in the B2B information & analytics, pharmaceutical, ed tech, health tech, wellness, marketing, advisory, and not-for-profit sectors, including Clarivate, a multibillion-dollar analytics company where he was a long-term advisor during preparation for GDPR and on a variety of marketing matters.
 

Rob has held, in addition to privacy roles, product, general management, data, and strategy positions with Reuters, Thomson Financial, and in the Euromoney Institutional Investor group, as well as consulting roles at other B2B information and data companies. Rob’s diverse background drives his practical and collaborative approach to data privacy. 
 

In his spare time, he is a keen hiker and volunteer trail maintainer. In 2018, Rob published a book (The Kiss of Sweet Scottish Rain) about a trek across his native Scotland.
